Why God Created Mankind Male and Female, Only
And God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it.”
God desires all men to be saved from the world of sin and be reconciled to His will. My main objective in writing this essay is based on that ground with the hope that through its message some might be saved.
Although this subject requires more than a volume of a book to fully explain it, in this limited space let’s “unscroll” the Scriptures to clearly understand God’s intention in creating mankind.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The heavens were created as the habitation for the earth. Earth was created as a habitat for all living creatures including man. And, to complete the creation, man was made to be a dwelling place for the Spirit of God. That is, that man sans the fall would be a vessel to receive life, divine life from God for His glorious expression.
God’s mysterious expanse is expressed through the universe, His greatness and wisdom are exhibited through the earth in its original creation, and finally, His divine life and personality are to be manifested in perfect humanity.
The Perfect Humanity in God’s Son
This life, the perfect humanity as God intended is only possible through man’s full accord with God’s will. However, as it is written, “The first man, Adam became a living soul” but failed when he disobeyed his Creator.
By sending His Son, Jesus Christ as the last Adam, God showed us the possibility of perfect humanity. Through His resurrection, He “became the life-giving Spirit” (1 Corinthians 15:45). And to all of us who receive this Holy Spirit, He afforded us the capacity to live and walk according to God’s commandments (Ezekiel 36:27) as long as we are willing to abide in Him (Matthew 19:26; John 15:4).
God has a purpose for everything that He has created and in His own sovereign justice allowed man full freedom to choose either to live a life of obedience that leads to eternal glory with God, or a life opposed to God’s will leading to eternal doom with the devil and his angels.
The Mankind God Created
Then God said, “Let us make man in Our image, after Our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. (Genesis 1:26–27)
Further on, His word tells us:
Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Now out of the ground the LORD God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for man there was not found a helper fit for him. So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” (Genesis 2:18–23)
This is the book of the generations of Adam. When God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. Male and female He created them, and He blessed them and named them Adam when they were created. (Genesis 5:1–2)
This is how God created mankind. According to God’s will, they would be born male or female. No neutral or in-between.
God’s Real Purpose in Creating Man Male and Female
God is the giver of life and what He gives He multiplies within His conditions. After God created them, He blessed them and gave this command:
… And God said to them, BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY and fill the earth, and subdue it. And have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the heavens, and all animals that move upon the earth. (Genesis 1:28)
“BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY.” That is His will in creating man in their male and female form, for reproduction and multiplication. A male with a male cannot reproduce and multiply. Neither can a female with a female.
“A male with a male cannot reproduce and multiply. Neither can a female with a female.”
God Prepared Mankind a Place for His Habitation
As God is the giver of life, He is also the sustainer of it so He prepared a habitation to sustain man.
And the LORD God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground the LORD God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (Genesis 2:8–9)
Mankind was created with three main properties. He has a body (the Physical), he has a soul (the Psychological), and his innermost being, is a spirit (the Spiritual). Corresponding to these properties, three kinds of trees were presented to him in the garden:
First, every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food to feed his body (physical being).
Second, the Tree of Life to sustain his spirit (spiritual being),
And Third, the Tree of Knowledge (discernment) of Good and Evil for his soul (psychological being).
However, God gave the man a specific prohibition regarding his psychological being if he is to reside in that habitation and dwell with God.
(There is much to be said on this particular topic which I must cover separately in another article).
The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You may freely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Genesis 2:15–17)
In that command, God’s principle is established and destiny for man was set. You may freely eat of Every Tree in the garden, including the Tree of Life, but in particular, of the Tree of Knowledge, “you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Disobedience to God’s commandment brings death to man.
“Disobedience to God’s commandment brings death to man.”
God Gave Man Free Will to Choose
That’s how God purposed it in His creation of man and woman, whether you believe Him or not. He also laid out the consequences, whether you follow Him or not. He also warned us with plenty of examples from the Bible of what will happen to those who believe and obey, as well as to those who don’t believe but mock Him and disobey.
With those warnings, He gave every man free will to choose, but only two choices, no in-between. If you are not for Him, you are against Him. There is no such realm as purgatory where God will force you to obey. You cannot be neutral, for He warned those who are neither hot nor cold, “I WILL SPEW YOU OUT OF MY MOUTH.” (Revelations 3:16)
I cannot overemphasize this point. Of all His creation, only man was given this freedom to choose. All others were created to exist for the purpose of sustaining a habitation for man. However, among mankind, some males choose to live as females and some females prefer to live as males but this is contrary to God’s will.
“Among mankind, some males choose to live as females and some females prefer to live as males… Some humans even prefer to live like animals.”
Some humans even prefer to live like animals, which every man is fully capable of. As the aged Preacher, King Solomon testifies,
I said in My heart with regard to the children of man that God is testing them that they may see that they themselves are but beasts. For what happens to the children of man and what happens to the beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts, for all is vanity. All go to one place. All are from the dust, and to dust all return. Who knows whether the spirit of man goes upward, and the spirit of the beast goes down into the earth? (Ecclesiastes 3:18–21)
Apostle Paul in his letter to the believers in Rome highlighted that according to their choices, God responds appropriately. We read in Romans 1:18–22,
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them because God has shown it to them. For His invisible attributes, namely, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So, they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools…
Therefore, God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie. Continuing in Romans 1:26–28,
For this reason, God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done… Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.
This, of course, is in direct opposition to God’s will. Again, they are free to choose how they will live.
Man is Given Two Choices
But there are only two choices, no neutral or in-between. Each choice comes with conditions that lead to opposing circumstances. You either choose to live for God’s purpose for mankind according to His commandment or you may choose to live against God’s intention.
God responds to you based on how you choose. If you live to God’s command, you get the fullness of His blessing, and sustain you with eternal life. If you go against God’s intention, you get the curse of death resulting in eternal doom for your soul and eternal fire in the company of the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41).
God’s Command
I must highlight that this commandment and all God’s commandments in the Scriptures are given only to those people whom God has redeemed or separated for Himself from the world. This includes those who chose to belong to Him and are redeemed by Christ, the Son of God according to God’s conditions.
Therefore God said,
You shall be holy to Me, for I the LORD am holy and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine. (Leviticus 20:26)
Jesus reminded his disciples and those who follow Him, “You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48)
So, God gave a command in Leviticus.
Lev. 18:22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.
Lev. 20:13 If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.
Lev. 18:26–30 But you shall keep my statutes and my judgments and do none of these abominations, either the native or the stranger who sojourns among you (for the people of the land, who were before you, did all of these abominations, so that the land became unclean), lest the land vomit you out when you make it unclean, as it vomited out the nation that was before you. For everyone who does any of these abominations, the persons who do them shall be cut off from among their people. So keep my charge never to practice any of these abominable customs that were practiced before you, and never to make yourselves unclean by them: I am the LORD your God.”
Apostle Paul touched on this in his letters to the churches that were straying from God’s commands.
He said in 1 Corinthians 6:9–11, “…do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
Again it is for the churches or people who have been washed, and sanctified, and those who profess to be the people of God. In Paul’s letter to his co-worker Timothy, he reminded him to whom it was intended.
Understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine. (1 Timothy 1:9–10)
The apostle Jude warns in his only epistle.
“Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.” (Jude 1:7)
God allows every person the free will to choose: to listen to Him and obey; or ignore and mock Him in disobedience. He also tells everyone what awaits them according to their choice.
But I Was Born This Way!
Yes, one may say, “But I was born this way!” As I have highlighted from the Scriptures, in God’s creation, one can only be born male or female. How you became another is not God’s doing, but man’s doing. Yours, and/or through the influence and lifestyle of people around you with which you went along perhaps out of ignorance of God’s purpose. Now you are told what God’s will is and how this alternative life is abominable to Him, you have no excuse.
“Memento Mori,” Remember Death
It is set for man to die once, then comes judgment (Hebrews 9:27). After that, one destiny is set for every man according to how they chose to live here on earth. It will be our choice that will matter, not His. To those who wouldn’t listen to His word, shall He say… “Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.” (Matthew 25:41)
Two Certainties God Has Hidden from Us
First, we do not know when our life on earth will end. The other is when His promised return to execute judgment on His creation will be.
He sent us a Savior, His Son Jesus Christ to show us the way how to reconcile with His will and to warn us of the judgment He will carry out for those who refuse Him when He returns.
You may picture this. All men after Adam’s fall are placed on eternal death row. All are waiting for the execution of God’s judgment of death. While God tarries, He sends evangelists, prophets, shepherds, and teachers to preach repentance and teach the way of salvation to us.
That is, by believing and receiving His Son, Jesus Christ.
A pardon is made available to those who accept God’s message, an offer of reconciliation to bring us back to God’s favor and blessing.
False Prophets and Teachers
As this takes place, the devil also sends his counterfeits, false preachers, and teachers to muddle God’s word and tell us that we are just fine as we are, let us enjoy and be merry for God is love and He accepts everyone according to the way they prefer to live.
Those false preachers even crept into the churches of God, clothed in sheep’s clothing but preaching in open sight amidst the gullible congregation of God’s people. Even as Jesus warns His disciples,
“And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:10–13)
How does the love of many wax cold? Hear what Jesus is saying,
He who has My commandments, and keeps them, he is the one who loves Me: and he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will manifest myself to him… If a man loves Me, he will keep My words: and My Father will love him, and We will come unto him, and make Our abode with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My sayings: and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent me. (John 14:21–24)
Consider Your Ways
Between now and the time of Christ’s return, He gave us a period of time to consider our ways. This is called the age of grace, where the opportunity to repent from our disobedience and follow His commands is given.
The grave problem is that we do not know when this grace period will end. Whichever one comes first: our earthly life ends, or Christ returns to judge the living and the dead.
When He returns as a Judge, no mercy nor grace will avail, only judgment. This is what He will tell us on that day:
Let him who does unrighteousness do unrighteousness still; and let him who is filthy be filthy still; and let him who is righteous do righteousness still; and let him who is holy be holy still. Behold, I come quickly, and My reward is with Me to render to each one as his work is. (Revelations 22:11–12)
That should be fair enough!
Plea for Repentance unto Salvation
If you are currently living against God and His will, now is the best time to change sides. For how shall you escape God’s wrath, if you ignore so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed by those apostles who heard him.
Now is the time to repent by confessing your sins and returning to God. Receive His Son Jesus Christ as your life while you still have your breath and start living for God as a true child of God.
And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1 John 5:11–12)
His mercy and grace of forgiveness are still freely available. He is still the Savior of the world. But you do not know how much time you have. When He comes suddenly as He promised in His word, He comes when no one expects. He will surely come, no longer as a Savior but as a Judge, and every man will be judged according to his own deeds, and how he lived his life.
Did you live against God, or for God? When He returns, your destiny is set, eternal doom or eternal blessing. No choices will be offered. No mercy nor grace will be available.
So, I beg you, don’t wait until that time when you will hear Him say to you, “Depart from Me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.”
God made that very plain in His word. I hope that I have also made this message clear, and if I have, may this bring good news to you, only if you take heed. Otherwise, this will be a testimony against you when He comes.
With the prophet Habbakuk, I cry...
O LORD, I have heard Thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive Thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy. (Habbakuk 3:2)
And to My God I say...
"Not my will O LORD, but Thy will be done!"
Amen.
